To the Expense of a Heart

"After the passing of their father following a courageous battle with cancer, four siblings embark on a distressing journey back to their homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, to stand by their mother, a steadfast, devout Christian. Their father was a fearless advocate and had become a thorn in the side of rebel factions in the volatile eastern region, exposing their exploitation of child labor in Congolese mines, brutal massacres, and the illicit plundering of the nation's natural resources. Despite their father's tireless efforts fighting these injustices to protect his people & country, the Congolese government did nothing to support him in protecting his family from the relentless threats they faced. Now, returning to their roots, the siblings find themselves faced with the same, while confronting their own turbulent, painful past. As they navigate the complexity of forgiveness and reconciliation within themselves & their family, they are compelled to unite in the face of looming danger. Their mother becomes the central point of their collective strength as they endeavor to safeguard not only her but also the legacy of the organization their parents built. Through a journey of self-discovery and solidarity, the siblings must summon courage and resilience to confront the threats lurking in the shadows, wielding power and influence that pose a grave danger to their mission to protect their family's legacy and the future of their homeland.
